Banana Orange Crepes
It is time for desserts once again! For Halloween, we often talk about costumes and how to dress up as ugly or scary as possible. I think the same concept can apply to food or desserts in this case. It may look scary or disgusting, but it can also be super delicious right? So for this GLAD series, I choice to make something simple, Banana Orange Crepes with a little scary twist perhaps?
I followed a recipe from Epicurious iPhone apps. Recipe is as follows:
Crepes:
- 1/3 cup milk
- 3 tablespoon of flour
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoon of unsalted butter (slightly melted)
Sauce / Topping:
- 1 orange
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 teaspoon of unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of grand Marnier or Cognac
Step 1 – Whisk milk, flour, egg, sugar, salt and cinnamon together with the butter.
Step 2 – Chill batter and cover it with GLAD Wrap for 30 mins or so.
Step 3 – butter your pan a bit and then pour 1/4 cup of the batter into pan, rotate it around so the whole pan is covered. Ensure don’t overheat the crepes. Flip over accordingly when golden. 20 seconds on each side should be good. Set aside and fold them nicely as you wish.
Step 4 – Time for topping! Cut and peel the orange careful including the white pith. It takes quite some effort to peel everything, use your hand and ensure you have enough patient as well to do this!
Remember to peel off the membranes as well! Yes it is not as easy as it seems!
Step 5 – Melt butter into pan. Add sugar and a bit of the orange juice into the pan and start mixing.
Step 6 – add the orange and sliced banana to the mixture until heated. Add the Congnac and stir for a minute or two.
Step 7 – Pour the mixture over the folded crepes and enjoy!
GLAD I can help make your Halloween a bit scarier!
Tips: IF you want you can actually use the large GLADWARE as the mixing bowl so I would be easy to chill in the fridge.
